July TOPIC: Selling the Why: Talking to Parents about Play Therapy
This training helps clinicians effectively explain the value of play therapy to parents while building confidence in helping families move from the consultation call to booking the intake appointment. Using practical, research-informed strategies, participants will learn how to communicate the developmental, relational, and neuroscience-based foundations of play therapy, address common parent concerns, and explain how play helps children express emotions, process experiences, and build regulation and coping skills. The workshop also explores strategies for “selling” play therapy in an authentic and relationship-based way, increasing parent engagement, reducing hesitation, and helping families feel confident taking the next step in the therapeutic process.
1.Identify at least three strategies for increasing parent engagement and successfully transitioning families from the consultation call to scheduling an intake appointment.
2.Describe how play therapy supports emotional regulation, communication, and trauma processing in children through neuroscience-informed and evidence-based practices.
3.Demonstrate strategies for increasing parent engagement and addressing common misconceptions about play therapy within the therapeutic process.
