Ethan Kaste

LPC, RPT

Ethan Kaste is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Ethan graduated from Divine Mercy University with an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Much of his training and experience has been focused on trauma, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Child-Centered Play Therapy. His philosophy stems from a belief that a person is fundamentally inclined to flourishing rather than languishing. What this means in a therapeutic context is that he believes emotions are not something that we just have to cope with but are a capacity/strength that we can use towards functioning and flourishing. Ethan has a person-centered and emotion-focused approach. He values the story and experience of each client and therefore aims to create a safe space for his clients to share their stories.

His style stems from attachment-based theory, which believes that healing comes from interdependent relationships, meaning that humans flourish in environments of secure attachments that are neither fully dependent on nor fully independent of others.

Ethan has experience working with a number of mental health conditions, including: depression, anxiety, acute/chronic/complex trauma, and relationship distress. He works with children, adolescents, young adults, families, individuals and couples.

He is a certified Clinical Traumatologist and is a Registered Play Therapist. He has level 1 and 2 training in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy and has completed core skills training for Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy. Additionally, he has received training in Filial Therapy and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In his free time, Ethan enjoys playing video games, skateboarding, and running. He is a dedicated marathon runner, with the goal of one day qualifying for the Boston Marathon.
