Elizabeth Uffelman

LPC

Elizabeth Uffelman is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who is in the final stretch of earning her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential. She utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy to build therapeutic relationships with her clients, and believes that all people have within them what they need to heal. She is highly trauma-informed and pulls from neurobiology and attachment theory to understand what is happening internally for her clients. Her intention is to ‘meet kids where they are’ and to love and delight in who they are.

In supporting children in their optimal growth, Elizabeth collaborates with families on a regular basis. She utilizes Child-Parent Relationship Therapy to help caregivers build stronger connections with their children, and to feel more confident in their role as parents. She works with many recently separated and divorced families to provide psychoeducation and support.
Before becoming a LPC, Elizabeth worked as a school counselor at Arlington Public Schools. She has extensive knowledge of the IEP and 504 process, and is well versed in the challenges kids face and the accommodations and interventions that schools are able to provide. Prior to moving to the Northern Virginia area, she worked at a Title One school and domestic violence shelter in Charlottesville, serving as a prevention coordinator.

Elizabeth earned her Masters of Counselor Education from the University of Virginia in 2016, and RYT-200 in 2019. She loves her four-legged friends, and hopes to eventually incorporate them into animal-assisted therapy.
