Amanda Confair M.A., is a Resident in Counseling (pending board approval) working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). She is passionate about helping children navigate the complexities of their mental health through child-centered play therapy. She is committed to creating a therapeutic environment where children feel safe, understood, and empowered to express themselves.
Amanda’s therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy and understanding, with a focus on building a relationship with those she works with. Through the use of play-based therapy, she focuses primarily on the universal goals of child centered play therapy: increased self-esteem, increased regulation, increased worldview, and increased emotional vocabulary in order to help clients to reach their full potential.
In addition, Amanda also enjoys working with teens and young adults through transitional periods of life. She utilizes a person-centered approach, focusing on the relationship to help clients heal through safety and understanding. Amanda has experience working with clients on managing anxiety and depression, processing trauma, and building life skills.
Beyond individual therapy, she is passionate about advocating for mental wellness within the broader community, particularly in promoting the importance of early intervention and support for children. Additionally, Amanda utilizes a collaborative approach with the families she works with, ensuring that the family is included and supported throughout the therapeutic process.
Amanda earned her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Washington and her Bachelors of Science in a double major of Psychological Sciences and Kinesiology and Health Science with a minor in Linguistics from the College of William & Mary.
