Meghan Burns is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), currently working towards her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential. She has been working with children and teens since 2016, when she developed a passion for working with young children through play. Meghan has provided counseling across academic (K-12, college) and pediatric health settings. She has experience working with ADHD/neurodivergent adolescents and teens who benefit from support both academically and at home. Meghan specializes in the nuanced needs of ADHD children and is in the process of obtaining her ADHD certified clinical services provider (ADHD- CCSP).
Meghan uses child-centered play therapy techniques, such as sandtray play therapy, through a trauma-informed approach that fosters children’s creative expression. She is committed to creating a nurturing and safe environment, while approaching psychological growth and discovery holistically. She empowers families by working with them to promote this growth while providing strategies for mental well-being outside the therapy room.
Meghan completed her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling at the University at Albany, SUNY in 2021 and her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Health Studies with minors in Psychology and Counseling from Ithaca College in 2019. Meghan holds her clinical license as a professional counselor in the states of Virginia and New York.
