Sarah McCarthy is a highly skilled and compassionate dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). She holds a deep commitment to providing comprehensive mental health care to adults, children and families, grounded in her belief that everyone deserves to be heard and respected.

With over seven years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Sarah is dedicated to caring for the whole family system, children, adolescents, and adults to ensure the need for comprehensive and empathetic support for caregivers is recognized and supported in addition to treating children, understanding that mental health is vital for everyone and that there is always room for improvement, no matter where you are on your journey. Her approach combines evidence-based practices with individualized care, utilizing a variety of therapeutic methods tailored to meet the specific needs of each person in her care.

Sarah specializes in the management of depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, women’s mental health, and ADHD across all age groups, with a focus on serving children, adolescents, and families. Sarah has experience supporting children with school related needs to foster academic success, as well as adults navigating the demands of daily life, including the challenges of parenting, work stress, relationship dynamics and maternal mental health issues and is skilled in guiding parents on these topics as well as providing screening and assessments related to academic concerns.

Sarah is committed to creating a supportive environment where you can feel comfortable and confident on the path to better mental health. By serving as a collaborative member of the Crossroads Family Counseling Team, families have the benefit of Sarah being able to communicate and consult directly with their child’s therapists to provide holistic care coordination and comprehensive mental health support for the whole family all in one place.

Sarah began her academic journey at Smith College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She then pursued her nursing education at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, followed by advanced practice studies in Family Medicine at Simmons College. To further specialize in mental health, she completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification at George Washington University.

Outside the office, Sarah enjoys vacationing with her family, cuddling with her pet dogs, exploring the outdoors, and baking with her children.
