The Play Cafe – Monthly Lunch and Learn
This virtual, one-hour lunch and learn session will be held monthly. Earn one Play Therapy CE while discussing various aspects of play therapy, including techniques, theories, and the process of becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). This is also a great opportunity to network with fellow and aspiring play therapists. Register for this month’s session using the link below!
February TOPIC: Kids don’t open up in chairs, they open in the worlds they care about. This training teaches play therapists how to use video game culture, storylines, characters and gameplay themes as a clinical doorway into: attachment, emotional regulation, trauma processing, identity and self-concept and connect with shut-down or therapy ambivalent kids. You don’t have to be a gamer, you don’t have to be good at the games (you don’t even have to PLAY them!). You’ll learn how to read what’s happening inside the child through what’s happening on the screen- just like you read through sand tray, drawings and pretend play. No gimmicks and no “just let them play”. We will be exploring developmentally attuned, relationship-based, theoretically grounded, video-game informed play therapy.
