Elizabeth Uffelman M.Ed., is a Resident in Counseling working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). She loves working with children and youth and works through a trauma-informed lens. Elizabeth has experience with a wide range of populations, including a domestic violence shelter and Title One elementary schools.
Elizabeth believes that play is the natural language of children and an essential medium for self expression. She utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy and tailors her therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of each individual child she works with. By providing a non-judgmental and accepting space, she encourages children to explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences through various play techniques. She incorporates sand tray, bibliotherapy, and art therapies in her interventions to help children develop self-awareness and positive coping strategies. She collaborates with families each step of the way to engender trust and open communication.
When not working at Crossroads, Elizabeth is serving as a school counselor with Arlington Public Schools. She completed her Masters in Counselor Education at the University of Virginia in 2016. Her passion for helping children reach their fullest potential drives her to continuously seek professional development opportunities in the field of play therapy.
